James W. Breedlove is a National Newspaper Publisher’s Association (NNPA) award winning editorialist for theDallas Post TribuneMON-The Gazette, and the LaVida News. His hard-hitting columns present a point of view that mainstream media has overlooked or chosen to de-emphasize.  He addresses a wide range of issues with the intent of stimulating constructive dialogue and creative thinking on topics impacting the minority community.

In Addition to his writings, Breedlove is self-employed as a consultant to small businesses in the areas of strategic planning, financing, e-commerce and business development.   He retired in 1998 from the Small Business Administration where he served as Regional Administrator over the five state region including Arkansas, Lousiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas–a position to which he was appointed by President Bill Clinton in 1994.  Prior to that he was Senior Contracting Officer at the Resolution Trust Corporation overseeing contracts to dispose of the multi-billion dollar asset portfolio from failed Saving and Loans.

He spent a total of 30 years in the defense electronics industry after receiving a medical retirement from the U.S. Air Force and obtaining a BS degree in electrical Engineering (Summa Cum Laude) from Howard University, Washington, D.C.

His technical career has been augmented by community and civic service. He previously served as a tenant advisor to the National Capital Housing Authority. He is past president of the Ft. Wayne, IN branch NAACP. He was a guest lecturer at Chapman College, Los Angeles and the Defense Systems Management College, Washington, D.  C.  He was a Board member of Pacific Christian College and the Presidents Committee, Los Angeles YMCA.  He served four years on the Texas State Bar Grievance Committee.  

Breedlove is a Golden Heritage Life Member of  NAACP, and holds memberships in Tau Beta Pi, engineering society; Sigma Xi, scientific society;  Pi Mu Epsilon, mathematics society;  and the Sigma Pi Phi, professional boule.
